Hanae Mori is one of the top designers in Japan and the only Japanese woman to have her collection presented in the runways of Paris and New York She’s also highly regarded as an icon of liberated women as she was one of the first women to have a career in Japan. Mori’s roster of famous clients include Princess Grace of Monaco and Crown Princess Masako of Japan. In addition, she has designed costumes for operas, musicals and ballets; and uniforms for Japan Airline’s flight attendants.

Apart from her fashion empire house, Hanae Mori expanded her business and created designs for shoes, accessories, bags, housewares, sunglasses, belts and umbrellas. The company’s fragrance division, Hanae Mori Parfums boast a suite of fragrances inspired by the East and West. Her perfumes are intricately designed from the scent to the bottle. Mori’s suite of fragrances include the signature Butterfly series, where a harmony of subtle scents converge producing a distinct fragrance like no other.

Hanae Mori
Hanae Mori is primarily strawberries and almonds. At first sniff, you would conclude that it’s vanilla-based but the truth is, there is no vanilla accord present in the fragrance. None at all. The rare blend of berries and almonds produced an exquisite sweet smelling scent akin to luscious vanilla. The wood notes and musk lend it a sexy edge and prevent it from becoming too sweet.

Hanae Mori Eau Fraiche
Hanae Mori Eau Fraiche is a spin-off of the original; a limited edition launched in 2008. The notes are almost the same but more fruity and gourmand. The opening greets you with a bunch of mandarin wood and grapefruit followed by berries, currants and a bouquet of florals. The base culminates with a matte finish dominated by almond accords and hints of musky woods.

Hanae Mori Haute Couture
This floral green fragrance is unlike the original Butterly. Hanae Mori Haute Couture is more like an extravagant vintage scent. It’s quite heavy at first whiff and traces of sharp florals linger. The scent of flowers is very strong, perfect as a special occasion fragrance; a few spritz goes a long way.
