Picking Right Shoes For The Winter

As summer disappears, so does the need to walk around bare foot or in skimpy, barely there sandals, exposing your feet to as much fresh air as possible. What we get from winter is slippers, socks and ice blocks that are growing at our feet. Fortunately winter also brings with it new fashions in shoes so that your pins can always look stylish no matter the weather.

Winter 2008 looks to be an eclectic season with ballerina flats, animal prints, and boots, particularly equestrian and biker boots in vogue. Round toes are a quality of ballerina flats, and you can find them in all sorts of materials and different colors. This winter animal prints, metallics – especially gold, and velvets are the big sellers. Vamp and ankle ties heel is another choice, as oposed to typical flat shoes we wear.

The shiny patent look is in fashion, so are the red color and Mary Jane’s. The name Mary Jane is an American term for a strap shoe or sandal that has low heels, broad, rounded and closed toes and a buckle strap across the instep and/or around the ankle. The situation is different now, but they’ve used to be made of black patent leather. It is easy to find them in all kinds of materials and colors these days. Mary Jane’s were also primarily known as little girl’s shoes, and only occasionally as shoes for little boys. These are quite informal shoes for grown women, but at least there are more and more women who choose to wear them.

The Mary Jane’s are not what they used to be, now they have thick platform soles and higher heels added to them. Punk rockers and Goths adopted the shoes in particular, although some others would vamp up the “Lolita” look and wear them with high knit socks and a very short paid, pleated schoolgirl skirt.

The peep-toe shoe is one more trend that will flourish this winter. I know you think that your feet would surely freeze if you wear one of these, but I asure you that this is not really crazy and that you will be warm as you would be in a regular pumps you wear.

It is clear that you have a lot of choices in front of you when it comes to winter footwear. Choose what fits your style best and you will be ready for the cold winter days.
