Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf...

flowerbomb-perfumeLike its namesake, Flowerbomb by Victor & Rolf is an explosive orchestra of flowers teeming with fresh and sweet accords. This opulent fragrance features bergamot, green tea, jasmine, rose, freesia and orchid. The initial notes come off as overly sweet, sugary but not cloyingly offensive. While the base leaves a trail of musky oriental undertones of amber and patchouli mingled with caramelized notes bringing out an air of delectable milk chocolatey, vanilla-like flavor. The lush sweet-rose-powdery scent seduces the nose palate with warm sugar-covered flowers and its candy-like floral essence is reminiscent of Thierry Mugler’s Angel, but softer, more behaved. On the sillage department, this fragrance stays close to the skin; longevity is exceptional. The diamond-grenade inspired bottle was designed by Fabien Baron, suggestive of the fragrance’s explosive and sophisticated nature.

Comparing it to other expensive fragrances, Flowerbomb, comes with a hefty price tag. But people who have bought the perfume don’t seem to mind the splurge as the perfume pretty much stands out from other designer fragrances. One perfume reviewer from Basenotes said, “Everything about it is remarkably unique. The bottle, the name, the fragrance notes…the way they “explode & smolder” ~ simply brilliant! There has been so much extreme opinion on this one, but I personally find it attractive and wearable!” Yet another perfumista who can’t get enough of the floral explosion, “Bouquet of flowers; a heavenly explosion of a thousand floral scents. So delicious that the tiniest whiff gets you intoxicated, and the subtle trail of flowers you leave behind is like a goddess taking a walk through some mythical land.”

Flowerbomb debuted in 2005 commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Rolf Viktor & Rolf fashion house. The following year, their first men’s perfume Antidote was launched in the U.S. The Dutch duo is known for their penchant for eccentric designs and glamorous concepts. The same innovative ideas permeate in their fragrance line.
