Jennifer Lopez Deseo...

Deseo by Jennifer Lopez is a fragrance inspired by “a midnight walk in her garden.” Deseo is meant to cater to the mature market which is quite a deviation from most celebrity-themed fragrances. It projects more sophistication and less of the youthful character which is ostensibly a favorite marketing strategy of mainstream celeb fragrances. Created by perfumers Ellen A. Molner and Jim Krivda, this fragrance from JLo separates the women from the girls.

deseo

It starts out as fresh, a green-floral kind of freshness, then develops into something tropical – a mix of freshly cut grass, wet flowers, some coconuts and ambery-musk undertones. The notes are bamboo leaf, yuzu, freesia, Sicilian bergamot, orange blossom, rose geranium, mimose, star jasmine, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, musk, oakmoss and atlas cedar.

Deseo is almost (but not quite) comparable to Versace’s Crystal Noir. The depth and the sexiness parade itself effortlessly. You can sense its olfactive allure but it’s not in any way overwhelming. It’s the subtlety that makes it attractive. The warm woods in the dry down are aplenty. This somehow brings out the distinct mature appeal it promises.

The bottle is like a diamond in the rough. Even if the shape of the flacon looks as though it’s tilted, it is able to stand on its own as opposed to Thierry Mugler’s Angel and Kenzo’s Unidentified Fragrance Object where it’s impossible to make these fragrances stand.

Deseo’s sister, Deseo Forever, was launched in the same year. The flanker is a lighter version and the notes are the same. Coty should have instead, created an EDT variant than release a flanker that doesn’t do much justice to the parent. The sillage is also weaker which is not surprising at all. Having said that, it appears that Deseo is a better choice over its flanker, Deseo Forever. It has  richer base and a more powerful sillage to boot.

Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers...

Christian Audigier’s Ed Hardy fragrances will soon release its third collection in early 2010. Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers For Her and Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers For Him are presented in the signature Ed Hardy bottle designed with the artist’s tattoo art. The women’s perfume is the “hearts”, emblazoned with the conspicuous message “Love Kills Slowly” wrapped around the heart while the men’s perfume is the “daggers” where a pair two daggers sits beneath the skull. Both flacons feature a hodge-podge of art, a trademark of Ed Hardy.

hearts and daggers for her

Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers For Her is composed of blood orange orpur, violet leaf and apple, mango, apple blossoms, pink jasmine, cashmere musk, amber, benzon tears orpur and blond wood. Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers For Him, on the other hand, is composed of Anjou pear, fresh basil, Martini accord, white pepper, papaya, rosemary, Katsura wood, suede, patchouli and sandalwood.

Based from the accords, it appears that the fragrance is similar to the original Ed Hardy Perfume (2008). The composition could be a tad mellowed but certainly, this fragrance will reek the same fun and excitement and not to mention, the youthfulness of Ed Hardy scents.

Ed Hardy Hearts & Daggers will be available in 50ml and 100ml, EDP for the women and EDT for the men.
